At the IKMC, we believe in progress—and in you. Our grading system isn’t just about belts and certificates; it’s about celebrating your growth, sharpening your skills, and pushing your limits. Whether you choose to grade or simply train, our mission remains the same: to help you feel strong, confident, and ready for anything.
Grading isn’t mandatory, but it’s a powerful way to track your improvement, challenge yourself, and stay motivated. Each level builds on the last, helping you refine techniques, enhance decision-making skills, and boost your ability to react under pressure.
Through structured progression, you’ll gain:
Stronger self-defence skills
Increased fitness & endurance
Heightened tactical awareness
Greater confidence & mental resilience
Our grading system is structured into three main groups, each designed to take you from beginner to expert in a clear, challenging, and rewarding way.
Experience, starts as a beginner. Our grading system is designed to take you through a clear progression, with each level building on the skills and techniques you’ve mastered. With commitment, focus, and consistent training, you’ll see real improvement and growth as you move through our carefully structured levels.
Our grading system is split into three main groups: Practitioner, Graduate, and Expert. Each group consists of 5 levels, and the journey from one to the next is both challenging and rewarding.
Start your journey here! The Practitioner levels focus on core techniques, movement principles, and situational awareness. You’ll develop solid self-defence skills that become second nature.
Duration: 3-4 months per level (based on commitment & consistency)
Key focus: Basics of striking, defence, and tactical movement
Work your way through each of the five levels, ending at P5.
The focus in this group is on building a solid foundation in self-defence, understanding the KEMPA System, learning basic techniques, and developing key principles of movement, awareness, and confidence.
Once you’ve mastered the foundations, it’s time to refine your techniques and build speed, power, and precision. The Graduate levels push you to apply what you’ve learned in high-pressure scenarios.
Duration: 5-6 months per level
Key focus: Real-world combat strategies, advanced striking, and defensive transitions
Here, you’ll refine your skills and develop a deeper understanding of combat strategies. This group is made up of G1 to G5, with each level taking approximately 5 to 6 months to achieve.
The final stage of your IKMC training! The Expert group is where you become a true master of self-defence, combining technique, strategy, and mental strength. Achieving a Black Belt in Krav Maga isn’t just about fighting—it’s about thinking, adapting, and overcoming challenges in any situation.
Duration: Varies per level
Key focus: Advanced combat tactics, endurance, leadership, and teaching skills
Before every grading, we offer Pre-Grading Workshops to fine-tune your skills, boost confidence, and ensure you’re fully prepared. These sessions are designed to help you perfect your techniques and get valuable feedback before the big day.
Grading is a physical and mental challenge, testing everything you’ve learned. Depending on your level, grading can last from 4 hours to 2 days, featuring:
Drills & sparring sessions
Tactical problem-solving scenarios
Pressure-based self-defence applications
It’s tough, but the reward is worth it—you’ll walk away feeling accomplished, stronger, and ready for your next challenge.
At the end of your grading, you’ll receive an official IKMC KEMPA MODERN COMBAT SYSTEM Certificate and Grade Patch, recognizing your new rank. Plus, we celebrate exceptional progress with Special Awards for Best Improved—because hard work deserves recognition!
No matter where you are in your training, our grading system gives you clear goals, exciting challenges, and a path to becoming the best version of yourself. Whether you’re taking your first step or aiming for Black Belt, IKMC is here to support you every step of the way.
